Swimmingly
The Swimmingly study is the starting point for a painting of the same name. Part of the amalgam or synthesized landscape series, it is a blend of photos taken from favourite places near and far from home. The swimmer is the iconic Wind Swimmer sculpture by artist Doug R. Taylor , from the Kitsilano Pool Wind Swimmer weather vane that watches over the outdoor saltwater pool at Kits Beach. Other layers include cherry trees, an iconic symbol of spring in Vancouver, a wrought iron fence in New Orleans and an iris from a community garden in North Vancouver. The finished work will be acrylic on canvas, 36" x 48".
